A Message from Pastor Ryan about COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Church,

I want to update you on our response to the COVID-19 situation. We are moving all of our services online for the next eight weeks.  All other events at physical locations are cancelled as well. This was not an easy decision, but we arrived at it for several reasons.

First, large group gatherings are the biggest threat to the spread of the virus.  All other large group gatherings have voluntarily been cancelled: professional sports, college sports, concerts, school competitions, etc.

Second, we are leaning towards caution.  This is not out of fear, but out of love for our community.  We want to be a contributor to a potential solution, not potentially causing more harm.

With that being said, we have developed a few ways we’re all able to stay connected as a church family. First, we encourage you all to follow us on our social media channels. You can find links to our Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube pages all linked at the bottom of this page. For pressing concerns, you’re welcome to call our church office at 623-536-2106 or to email us at care@palmvalley.org. We would love to schedule a video call with you and do whatever we can to help provide for you in these times.

We’re also excited that this opportunity allows us to offer even more ways to connect throughout the week. We will be offering new online service times on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at 7 PM, alongside our previously scheduled services on Saturdays at 5 PM, as well as Sundays at 8:15, 10, & 11:45 AM. If you’re unable to make it then, our services are always available on demand at palmvalley.org/online. Additionally, I will be hosting daily devotionals every morning at 6 AM on Facebook Live, and Pastor Darius will be leading daily guided prayers every evening at 5 PM on Facebook and Instagram. These opportunities will allow us to give you up to date information on what’s happening at Palm Valley, as well as let us share the hope and love of Jesus in the midst of a world full of fear. We will also be hosting weekly digital worship nights on Thursdays at 7 PM, on our online campus as an opportunity to come together and worship as a church family.

We also want to help you lead your family well. Our Family Life ministry is working hard to provide your kids and students with ways to stay connected. We will be making videos on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, to give you and your kids content and a way to connect spiritually. Our PVC Students team will be using their social media channels to distribute these resources, while our PVC Kids content will be available in the PVC App.

My encouragement to you during this outbreak is this: Act locally. There are people right next door to you that could use your help, and I would challenge you to knock on your neighbors’ doors and see if they need anything, or see if your neighborhood has a Facebook group you can join. The Nextdoor app is another great place to connect with those living around you. If you come across a need in your community that you don’t know how to address, feel free to email us at care@palmvalley.org, and we will do our best to meet this need or point them in the direction of someone who can.

As I was preparing this announcement, I was reminded of our Daring Faith campaign that we started three years ago. So many people committed resources, time and effort to accomplish these goals, one of which was to “invest in new technologies to help with our fellowship.” It sounds a little weird to think about technology being a benefit to our relationships, but what is going on right now is proof that all those efforts were worth it.

Our church is not a building, a time, or an event. Church is people, and through you, Church is active in your neighborhood and family. I’m praying for you, I’m looking forward to connecting with you on Facebook Live, and I truly believe that we as a church can turn this interruption into an opportunity.

Blessings,

PVC ONLINE
